Other Treatments

Because years of high blood sugar can damage multiple organ systems, persons may require a variety of treatments to repair the effects of the high blood glucose levels.  A variety of supplements may be recommended to support insulin sensitivity, lower blood sugar levels before and after meals, improve blood flow, lower blood pressure, support kidney and/or liver function, repair nerves and support vision.

Various intravenous therapies may also be helpful, including chelation, plaquex and lipoic acid. Some persons with diabetes have food allergies, these may need to be identified and avoided.
